The Bobby Jones Scholarship was established in 1976 by friends and family of the late Robert T. Jones Jr. The scholarship seeks students who exemplify the legacy of Bobby Jones through intellectual excellence, significant leadership, and exemplary character, integrity, and citizenship. Since its inception, more than two hundred students from the United States and Scotland have enjoyed the opportunities provided by this unique scholarship.
The Bobby Jones Scholarship further enhances the relationship between the University of St Andrews and Emory University by annually selecting four students from each university to undertake a fully paid year of study at the other university with funds provided for travel between the terms. The students have the opportunity to supplement their education at a top-ranking institution abroad, to become integrated members of their local communities, and to experience the best local and national cultural offerings in their new locale.
The Robert T. Jones Jr. Scholarship Program continues to thrive thanks to the generosity, hospitality, and attention of committees and trusts in Atlanta, St Andrews, and New York.
Inaugurated in 2008, the Robert T. Jones Jr. Fellowship annually provides full funding for one student from Emory and one from St Andrews to pursue a graduate degree at the other university. The fellowship honors Bobby Joness¿ history of academic achievement by selecting highly motivated individuals with records of intellectual excellence and a high potential for postgraduate success in their chosen academic field.
